Red Desert Ramblers perform old-time, country, swing, and bluegrass music. Past performances include-Memorial Day Bluegrass Festival (Grand Junction, CO); Southern Nevada Bluegrass Music Association (Logandale, Nevada); Bannock County Bluegrass Festival (Pocatello, Idaho); Darrington Bluegrass Festival (Washington), and they were the first Utah band ever chose to perform at the International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Festival Convention in Nashville.
Steve Hewson - guitar, lead and harmony vocals
Steve is best known as the host of the Rockport Dam Jam. He hails from Huntington Beach, California proving that country twang can come from the land of sand and surf. After going electric with the country band "Desert Skies," Steve has now returned to his first love of acoustic music with the Ramblers.
Sharon Mitchell - hammered dulcimer
Sharon has played music since she was 8, playing Hammered Dulcimer since 1989. She coordinates the Local Concert Series for the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association. Sharon also plays with Public Domain String Band.
Joe Farmer - mandolin, guitar, and bass
Joe became a convert from Rock 'N Roll to Bluegrass back in '73 when he heard Norman Blake, Doc Watson, and Dan Crary at the Horsepens 40 Bluegrass Festival in Alabama. He's been flatpicking and playing bluegrass ever since. Joe plays Mandolin, Guitar, and Bass. He has been a member of various bands such as Done Gone, Three on a String, The Mike Iverson Band, Down Home and Around the Bend. Joe drives 90 miles to band practice.
Rick Martinez- banjo
Rick has played the 5 String Banjo at least 30 years. His style is steeped in traditional and progressive bluegrass music with diverse influences ranging from Earl Scruggs to Tony Trishka.
Dave Bates- bass
Dave has been a mainstay in the SLC/Summit County music communities for many years. Dave has been a pilot for Delta, and a bus driver. When he is not flying, he is a farmer in Wanship.
